Akira takes place in post-WW3 Neo Tokyo, a dystopian time when the government is realizing people have ESP abilities — extra sensory perception. Crazy stuff. Another important part is The Capsules — a biker gang of kids who don’t vibe with the government’s control [or any control, for that matter].
This ESP candy packaging is meant to reflect the governments outwardly control on a pretty roughed-up society. The red wrapper is crisp and tidy, revealing only what needs to be said. The box, however, is a confrontational wave of reality, with bold and bright colors and messaging.
